Save the Cinema Halls Intro
Save the Cinema Halls
For the last two years of his life, Tareque was obsessed with the collapse of the country’s cinema hall network.
During the countrywide release of Runway, he did extensive documentation on the condition and closure of halls in district towns around the country, interviewing hall owners and managers, rank and file employees, patrons and neighboring businesses, and holding roundtables with stakeholders. He eventually came to understand that the crisis was a national one, requiring a radical revision of the country’s film policy in order to save the situation.
